As the journey towards higher education was to begin from this historical city of Bikaner, all at RNBGU were in every way prepared for new challenges. As the orientation programme for the first batches of B.Com, BBA, BSc and MBA was to be planned, the administration, faculty members, and the senior management to the best of each one’s ability and experience rendered to framing a deficit free structure of the first ever orientation to be held at RNB, so as to be able to carve a niche for itself and as the process is followed suit in the coming years, all experiences and learning would add to the inassasible pillars of this strong edifice the RNB Global University.
For a very new institute which is just born, it has to be nurtured with tender care and love and very careful planning keeping in mind all miniscule details.
With this as the foreword the Orientation Programme was framed spread over a period of 5 days from the 3rd of August till the 7th of August 2015.
The main highlights and concentration areas of this programme were the Registration process, the inaugural session, a psychometric analysis of the students, industry student interaction and curriculum familiarisation covering all aspects.
The 3rd of August 2015 was one day on which a bird’s eye view of RNB can be doubtlessly described as Reverberating with JOSH.
The day began with registrations for all candidates, which is assumed as the most chaotic in the itinerary of any orientation programme, but the staff and faculty of RNBGU conducted in a very systematic and planned manner.
At 11AM began the proceedings with the arrival of the Chief Guest, the Honourable Chancellor of the University, Dr. R.N.Bajaj as he was welcomed with the tilak in the traditional manner with reverence. It was then the lighting of the lamp to which all dignitaries present rendered for auspicious beginnings.
This was followed by Sarasvati Vandana, seeking blessings from the goddess of the most treasured pearls of knowledge and wisdom, for will power and strength of the body and the mind to tread on the path of success.
The proceedings than began with a warm welcome extended on behalf of the senior management at RNB to the guest of honour and to all parents and the students present in the gathering.
The Honourable President RNB graced the Dias, as he was requested to say a few words to the gathering which had all congregated with their own set of questions, anxiety, apprehensions and the stress of formalities yet to be completed before the classes would resume. All this was put to rest as the President spread the charisma of his ease and charm with a very warm Good Morning. He addressed all issues of concern of the parents and students , understanding the fact that for them it was not only a whole new chapter unfolding in the lives of their wards , but also the fact that the university after its inception was now on the threshold of a take-off with its first batch.
He shared with the audience the vision of RNBGU to nurture young thinking minds who dream big and want to make a difference to the society by contributing toward the growth of the Country. He went on to say that at RNB the endeavour is that together we lay the stones of the foundation of this institute so that it emerges as one of the best in the country.
This was followed by the welcome address by the Director School of Commerce and Management where he also briefed the students about the academic routine and the USP of the University where academics and related issues were concerned.
The Hon’ble Chancellor, the guest of honour of the day then addressed the gathering as one of the visionaries of this institute and how they have carefully planted every seed with a dream of a better tomorrow.
It was then thanks giving by the Prof. B. Chatterjee , which was followed by high tea and interactions
After all salutations were done it was then the administrative heads who took charge of getting with the process of documentations and other necessary paper work with the students and their parents. Again in a very meticulous and well-coordinated manner.
August 4th 2015 had a series of processes planned starting with the psychometric test analysis and the VARK analysis of the students to identify their areas of interests and also the problem areas which could then be worked upon by counsellors and mentors at the University.
The analysis test carried on till the 7th of August and in between was complimented with classroom orientation by faculty members giving the students a promo of the course structure and various tools for assessments internal and external.
On the 5th and 6th of August 2915 barring the analysis test there were two sessions conducted by TCS and HP, where there was an industry student interaction which clarified to them the relevance of these courses for future prospects of placements and further studies.
The 7th of August was essentially presentations and talks by various faculty members from different verticals staging to the students details of Assignments, communication skills, presentations, etc. Essentially the para academics was introduced to the students on the final day of the orientation
After all essentials were covered the Administrative staff and the faculty mentors continued the interactions in groups and in some cases one on one clarifying doubts which were still creating any kind of an apprehension.
Ultimately the aim at RNBGU was to welcome all students into its folds not just an educational institute which on the basis of their grades would give them a degree, but also welcome them with the assurance of being their guides and mentors in helping them reach out to their dreams, making accessible and bringing within their reach all that was important for their overall grooming and also helping them understand that an Educational Institute does not only carry the flag of imparting knowledge and awarding degrees, but also is responsible for creating in each one a citizen in whom the country and his/her family takes pride.
And so began the trail blazing a new path embracing all learnings and experiences, like a humble prayer incessantly being read out with renewed zest and zeal.
